Meet The Team

Paul Myers

Is an ASCTA qualified and insured Bronze level swim coach with more than 12 years swim coaching experience and is currently studying for his silver license.

Paul currently has five national level qualified athletes and is the head coach at Warragul Swimming Club.

Paul is passionate about children learning to swim.

Having coached swimmers from many learn to swim programs Paul identified the need for quality swimming lessons in the Baw Baw Shire, In conjunction with Dylan Muir (also a dedicated and passionate swimming coach) they have set up Baw Baw Swim School.

Dylan Muir

I have been Head Coach of the South Gippsland Swimming Club since 2012 and running Swim Schools since 2015. I have been a competitive swimmer since the age of 7 and have always loved being in the water, whether that is swimming laps in a heated pool, or out in the surf in the middle of winter.

I love teaching all ages, from the first strokes in a child’s learn to swim journey, all the way to performance swimmers competing at a National level. I now focus most of my time with the performance swimmers, many of which go full circle to become our next wave of swim teachers. I love watching them grow in the role that I started in a long time ago.

Peta Howlett

We are proud to introduce Peta who is part of our team at Baw Baw Swim School.

“I grew up in the southern suburbs of Sydney with the beaches on my doorstep so swimming and water sports were a major part of my childhood.

I was involved in junior lifesaving and the local swim club until we moved to Melbourne when I was a teenager.

I joined the Warragul Swim Club in 2009 as a senior competitive swimmer when my son joined as a 7 year old and in 2011 began masters swimming with the Casey Seals.

I am also a member of the Inverloch Surf Life Saving Club. I regularly compete in events at local, state and national level which is both satisfying and great fun!

In 2018 I began swim teaching and completed the Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety Course and hope to undertake both Teacher of Competitive Strokes and Teacher of Adults this year.

When I’m not swim teaching, I also works as a Lifeguard.

I am passionate about swimming and water safety. Everyone should learn the skills required to be safe in the water – whether simply for fun, fitness or competition.

I look forward to meeting you all and helping your child progress in the water.”

Sarah Wickham

I am apart of the admin team with Baw Baw Swim school. I have been with BBSS since we opened in 2018. It is one of the most rewarding jobs to find a space that works for your child to learn to swim.

I am lucky enough to work from home so I can be present with my two young sons. I also work for other swim schools that Dylan owns in the south Gippsland area and SGB Swimming club.

When teaching I love to teach backstroke – although this is my least favourite stroke to swim.

I am inspired by our swim teachers who are at school, studying and also competing at a high level and giving their all. It takes skill and scheduling to achieve what they do.

I have still yet to work out what I would like to do when I grow up and enjoy the challenge of adding study into my life to keep the knowledge base growing. I currently hold my cert 3 and 4 in fitness, coaching and swim teaching qualifications and am doing my cert 3 in early childhood education currently.

Chelsea

Swimming is something that I have loved to do since I was very young, and this passion was extended after I joined Warragul Swimming Club when I was 12 years old.

I have been a Swim Instructor and a part of the Baw Baw Swim team for 4 years. I am passionate about working with kids and love helping them succeed and grow in their swim journey’s. My favourite strokes to teach are freestyle and breaststroke.

I am currently in my second year at uni studying Primary School teaching. In my spare time, I can be found swimming with Warragul Swim Club, going to the gym, reading and listening to lots of music!

Ash

Hi, my name is Ash and I’m a Swim Teacher at Baw Baw Swim School. I’ve been a swimmer almost all my life and like to spend most of my time at the beach or the pool. Swim Teaching was my first job as I’ve always had a passion for the sport. I have been a swim instructor for 2 years now. I enjoy teaching Breaststroke because it always reminds me of the time that I first learnt it. I would love to work at a nature park or something in marine biology in the future.

My Nonna is someone who inspires me as she really enjoys the small things in life. I would love to follow in her footsteps and approach life with the same appreciation that she has.

Sitting with my parents for a coffee and just hear their stories, I think that’d be really interesting.

Savannah

I am currently studying year 12 VCE at Chairo Christian School, Drouin and play field hockey for Warragul Gulls. In my spare time I enjoy surfing camping and exploring with my mates. My dream job would to work as a marine biologist travelling and learning about the ocean and its marine life. If I could have coffee with anyone in the world it would have to be Bethany Hamilton, a female pro surfer with an inspiring life story about her survival of a shark attack. My biggest inspiration in life is my mum, who gives and does so much for those around her. Something random about myself is I once got lost at Mt hotham for 3 or more bourse from my group snowboarding.

I have been a swim teacher since last November/December 2022 so about 7months. My favourite stroke to teach is probably freestyle as it is very practical and fun to learn and swim. I was brought into Baw Baw Swim School by Paul who scouted me as I was lifeguarding at the Warragul Leisure centre, and he discovered I was becoming qualified to swim teach for Vic Swim during the summer. I absolutely love teaching the kids swimming and working alongside a fun supportive and experienced group of people.

Emily

I’m currently studying Physiotherapy at university and I love travelling whenever I can.

I have been a swim teacher for 2 years after being offered a job by Paul. I hope to be a physiotherapist for the AFL when I finish uni. My Favourite stroke to teach is freestyle. I enjoy camping outside of work and if I could have coffee with anyone in the world right now I would be Morgan Wallen.

Michala

I have been a swim teacher for just over 2 years now, I enjoy the idea of being able to teach life saving skills and bring my love for swimming to those younger than me. Freestyle is my favourite stroke to teach.

One day I would love to own my own business!

Meredith

I joined the Baw Baw Swim School team in early 2022. I was excited to find myself in a position I enjoyed, teaching children how to swim. My Favourite stroke to teach is breaststroke as it is also my Favourite stroke to swim.

My dream job is to be an architect so I can design peoples dream homes and travel the world to create these buildings.

I am looking forward to traveling to Europe including Sweden and Iceland in the future.

Charlotte

I’ve been working at Baw Baw Swim school since the start of 2022. I have been a competitive swimmer since I was 13 years old.

After school I want to study at uni but not 100% sure what yet.

I like teaching Breaststroke and am inspired by people who work hard.

If I could have a coffee with anyone it’d be Taylor Swift.

Monique

I am one of the swim teachers at Baw Baw swim school.

I have been a swim teacher for almost 3 years now, completing my AUSTSWIM teacher of swimming and water safety certificate in 2020. I was a competitive swimmer at Warragul Swimming cCub for 7 years competing at many Gippsland, country and state championships. I love swimming for its versatility as you can do so many different things with it whether that’s jumping through waves at the beach, cutting laps at the pool or an important safety skill.

My dream job is to be a physio. I’m currently in my second year studying physiotherapy at Federation University. My favourite stroke to teach is definitely backstroke as it was always the stoke that I found most enjoyable to do myself. I’m constantly inspired by my family and the effort and care that they put into everything they do. Something random about me is that I love to play hockey and am currently playing for Waverley hockey club in the premier league reserves.

Brydie

I have been a swim instructor for almost three years. I came to Baw Baw Swim School through my connections with Paul when I was a member of Warragul Swimming Club. My favourite stroke to teach would be survival backstroke.

I am currently studying a Bachelor of Nursing/Psychological Science degree. My dream job would be to work as nurse in palliative care whilst also living on a dairy farm. My inspiration is my parents as they both work very hard to achieve many goals in their life. If I could, I would probably have a coffee with Princess Anne as she is a very strong woman who stands for what she believes in and would give great insight on how to combat challenges.

Something random about me is that I am heavily involved in lifesaving and have developed a program called Grommet Gurus for young lifesavers starting their journey with Life Saving Victoria. I am fortunate enough the Inverloch SLSC and Brighton LSC are utilising my program with many more clubs interested in jumping on board in the coming seasons.

Tomei

I am a swimming instructor, however, at Baw Baw Swim School I am part of the admin team. I manage the social media accounts and websites.

I am also a competitive swimmer, coached by Dylan at South Gippsland Bass Swimming Club. I also recently moved to a Dairy Farm in Glen Alvie with my partner. We have a gorgeous Border Collie, Ollie.

When you see me around don’t be afraid to say ‘Hi’. If I am not in the water, I have a camera in my hand!
